Action Comedies started taking hold in America during the 1980′s. This genre tries to blend the violent, fast-pace, cliff-hanging, draw of the action film together with the slapstick timing of a comedy. With both genres being able to draw a specific crowd, the combination of them would seem to make more sense in the long run.
Action Comedies can be buddy films that portray two partners, one an expert and the other a fool. In the 80′s comedians like Eddie Murphy first took the plunge into blending action with comedy with his hit movies, “48 hours” and “Beverly Hills Cop”. In the early days it was easy to spot an action comedy. It was usually about cops and robbers. Over the years people have wanted more of a comedic story line that shows elements of real life as it unfolds. Enter in the Romantic Action Comedy, or the Dramatic Action Comedy.
