Action Comedies can be buddy films that portray two partners, one an expert and the other a fool. Catch up here Currently, there is an element of movie producers who are implementing the romantic comedy with the action comedy as seen in the movie “Date Night”.

In the 80′s comedians like Eddie Murphy first took the plunge into blending action with comedy with his hit movies, “48 hours” and “Beverly Hills Cop”. In the early days it was easy to spot an action comedy. It was usually about cops and robbers. Over the years people have wanted more of a comedic story line that shows elements of real life as it unfolds. Enter in the Romantic Action Comedy, or the Dramatic Action Comedy. Fantasy seems to clash a bit too much with the comedic timing needed in the slapstick of action comedy.

First, you have your Sunday sports. From the NFL to the biggest NASCAR races, Sunday afternoons are often built around our classic American sporting events. During baseball season, every team plays on Sunday, and the NBA builds its entire season schedule around marquee Sunday afternoon matchups. Later at night, after dinner, dad can settle in and catch up on the news with “60 Minutes,” before the entertainment starts in prime time. The Misses

Two and a Half Men returns withought “Winning” star Charlie Sheen and I just don’t see magic happening without him. Yes, they will try, but they will fail.

The New Playboy Club is premeiring. I have yet to see an episode, but the title alone does nothing for me. I am all for retro TV, but not wanna-be retro.

So hit or miss, there are some shows that keep me tuning in. I guess the trick is picking the right channel!

While the show is full of quick wit and some of the best writing on all of television, the characters are also relatable in the they have something that many comedy programs lack: heart. What people love is that the family are written like real human beings: while they may have flaws and they don’t always get a long, they love each other and would do anything for those in their family. Like “Arrested Development” before it, “Modern Family” is the kind of show that doesn’t adhere to traditional sitcom ideals like a laugh track or one note character development. Comedy shows like these have helped change the face of television, in a good way.

The story is based around a group of Americans that are in a German prisoner of war camp. The Americans are led by Colonel Robert Hogan. The camp itself is called Stalag 13 and is run by a clueless German duo named Colonel Wilhelm Klink and Sergeant Hans Schultz. Both of them are repeatedly manipulated by Hogan and his crew into making poor decisions; which creates wacky and comedic adventures for the entire camp. Hogan’s job is to also run vital missions for the allied soldiers wreaking havoc to the outsmarted Germans.

Sure the premise for the show is a little bit out there and unrealistic. What kind of prisoner camp is going to allow for prisoners to create underground paths, phone taps, radio contacts, and things of that nature? But that is why this show was so fun.

For example Fatal Attractions is an Animal Planet show about people who own unique pets. On a recent episode a family actually had crocodiles wandering about their house. Other episodes have focused on free roaming snakes, monkeys and even a bison. A similar Animal Planet program explores the lives of animal hoarders and offers shocking visions of homes overrun and ruined by dozens of animal occupants.

Other examples of behavioral extremes can be found on shows such as The Secret Lives of Women and Strange Sex. Toddlers & Tiaras exposes the world of child pageantry and I am often shocked by what these parents will put their babies through to bring home a cheesy crown. Sister Wives chronicles the lives of a polygamist husband, his four wives and his many, many children.

For me reality TV seems to fill some type of voyeuristic need for outrageous behavior. Might my own life be so tame that I need a jolt of shocking reality?
